My vocal journey
When I was 7 years old I was devastated to be told by my primary school that I couldn't sing. I knew I was musical and was yearning to be trained. A decade later – having finally been encouraged by an inspirational state school music teacher – I applied to Cambridge University as a self-taught countertenor. It took some time, but I finally felt confident about my voice. Fours years later, I graduated from Cambridge with a degree in music, having sung in the world famous King's College Choir, and founded my professional vocal ensemble, Platinum Consort. I went from being actively discouraged from singing to performing and conducting at the highest level. Now, with 16 years experience, singing is my life and career. I am an expert classical vocal coach who relishes the opportunity to guide singers on their own vocal journey.
